Summer is coming to an end. The kids have gone back to school and I am already slightly annoyed by pumpkin spice rearing its ugly head everywhere. Don’t misunderstand, I love the Fall flavors, but take it easy with the pumpkin spice!
It’s 95° outside and even though Labor Day is the official end of summer, there are still a lot of warm, beautiful days left to enjoy being outside.
One of my favorite things is neighborhood movie night. All the neighbors pull their little, red wagons loaded with kids, chairs and beer down to the host house and get ready for an evening under the stars.
Everyone gets their chairs and blankets set up on the grass in front of the screen and then goes off to socialize drink and gossip.
With a little investment, you can entertain in a whole different way! The possibilities are endless! Birthday parties, campouts, football games, poolside movies.
And, there’s nothing like watching Jaws while floating in the pool!
There are a ton of options for projectors ranging in price and quality. They’re easy to use and more affordable than ever. Like *this one. You’re also going to need a screen. You can easily make one by painting a canvas drop cloth white and tying it up tight between some trees or invest in an *inflatable screen.
There is always a ton of candy, snacks and popcorn, of course.
Even some healthy snacks for those who want to be good. Fresh fruit is always good to have on hand. It’s yummy in wine too.
Movie night is usually BYOB and BYOJB (Bring Your Own Juice Box). I love this UFO Pink Lemonade Shandy! It’s so yummy! It kinda looks like a soda though, so don’t leave it around the littles. Although they may sleep good. Something to think about. Totally kidding. #KiddingNotKidding.
The older kids make sure the little ones have tons of glow necklaces and are settled in for the show so the grown-ups can catch up on the town gossip while we wait for it to get dark. Don’t forget bug spray too. Annoying little pests can ruin your evening. I’m not talking about the kids either.
We recently watched Coco. I didn’t love it. Sorry. You know I love all things Disney, but I wasn’t captured by this. Of course, I may not really have been paying attention. You know, with all the gossip and beer. I may have to give it another shot.
Enjoy the rest of the summer. Have a great Labor Day weekend!
